Report Fraud alert: Police forces being impersonated in scam calls using ‘spoofed’ phone numbers

Report Fraud, run by the City of London Police, has warned of a rise in reports of scam calls using spoofed police phone numbers to obtain personal or financial details. Criminals disguise their caller ID to make calls appear to come from a legitimate force. The public is advised to hang up on suspicious calls, verify the caller through independently sourced contact details and report suspected scam calls by texting ‘Call’ followed by the caller’s number to 7726.
